Thursday, November 3, 2011 Shalom Everyone - Did anyone get any rain last night? I was sitting at my desk at the office and it started thundering and the wind started blowing, but only a few drops of rain fell. What gives? I thought thunderstorms meant rain! Apparantly not this year . . . and as I look outside at that mountain of scrap wood by our shop that keeps getting bigger every day - just waiting to be burned up, I'm reminded of the fact that lack of rain affects more than just farmers. Too bad there's not a construction boom going on. Concrete guys love weather like this! I spent some time this afternoon with the tractor working on my younger son's place straitening up after the fire that swept through the Rhonesboro area a few weeks ago. If you haven't been up there, you might want to take a drive down Hwy. 154 between the Harmony school and Rhonesboro. It's something to see how a once-wooded area looks after a fire has cleaned out the underbrush and killed all the trees. As part of our on-going quest to find a bigger place to meet in, Angie and I visited the Summit Heights Fellowship this past week. Our daughter-in-law, Christle, introduced us to the paster, Ed Crouch, a quite interesting person to talk to. He said he was interested in "Jewish" roots and that he and his wife keep the festivals at home. Interesting!!!!! Unfortunately, though they have a 28,000 sq. ft. building, there was not a suitable place for us to meet unless we used their main fellowship hall. Since they are a very active congregation, with people coming and going all the time, I don't think that will work. They are planning to close in some "unfinished" space in the near future, and according to the pastor - we would be welcome to use it when it's done. In the mean time, the search continues! This week is the "off" week in regards to a teaching during the Traditional Service. Instead of a teaching, we'll have a Bible Study. Since we finished up the book of Acts a few weeks ago, we'll move right on in to the book of Romans. Romans is a very interesting book . . . even more so when you study it through the Hebraic lens of the the Jewish Pharisee who wrote it. I'm sure we'll see things we've never seen before! I'll give a little background then we'll dive right in! We'll be at Gladewater as usual. Shalom Aleichem |
