Special Events:

Ami Yisrael hosts a number of special events each year including special speakers and seminars.  Some of the speakers we've hosted in the past include: Bill Cloud (Shoreshim Ministry), Joseph Good (Hatikva Ministries), Frank Houtz (Dry Bones Restoration Company), Boaz Michael (First Fruits of Zion), Lee Miller (House of David School of Biblical Studies), Avi ben Mordechai, and Brad Scott (Wild Branch Ministries).

Please Note - We don't necessarily agree with everything our guest speakers teach and believe,  but we do believe they have something to offer the Body of Believers.  It is the responsibility of the listener to determine for himself what he accepts as truth.

Monthly and Yearly Events:

New Moon -

The Ami Yisrael Hebraic Fellowship commemorates the beginning of each Biblical month on the New Moon (in accordance with the traditional Jewish calendar).  We typically meet for a fellowship meal and either a teaching or Bible Study.

We are currently in the Biblical month of Iyar, the first month of the Biblical year.  The next month is Sivan and will begin on the evening of Tuesday, June 3.  We'll be posting info for that meeting as plans are finalized. For a complete Jewish calendar, try www.hebcal.com.

New Moon Announcement for month of Tammuz, July 3, 2008

Shalom Everyone -

A couple of weeks ago during the big Torah study we had in Tyler, we discussed the possibility that YHVH did indeed instruct His people to observe the New Moon. " Where do we find that in the Bible?", you might ask.  Well, it was in parasha Beha’alot’cha (Numbers 8:1–12:16).  In chapter 10 of Numbers we find that Israel was to make two silver trumpets.  These trumpets were to be blown during certain occasions, but primarily for the calling of an assembly and to notify the camps to move forward.  The trumpets were to be blown by the priests.

For those of you who have been to our yearly Yom Teruah celebrations marking the beginning of the fall festival season, you will remember that for the past few years we have always talked about the sounds of the shofar (ram's horn) and there importance to YHVH's people.  You remember that the sounds have meanings, and the meanings are hidden in the Hebrew text.

As we studied the parasha a couple of weeks ago, we noticed that in verse 3 of Numbers 10 the Hebrew word for 'blow' is 'taqa' (Strongs 8628). which is the word we get the word 'tekia' from.  A tekia is a long blast of the trumpet.  If you notice in verse in verse 3 that when both trumpets make a 'taqa', all Israel was to assemble together.  In verse 2 we see that the 'calling' of the assembly is a 'miqra' (Strongs 4744) or a convocation.  We read about some of YHVH's convocations in Leviticus 23.  So when the trumpets blow a 'taqa' or tekia as it's called, the congregation of Israel was to have a convocation.

Now, notice when the trumpets were to blow the tekia; 1 - whenever the congregation was to be gathered (vs. 7), 2 -  in the days of your gladness (vs.10), 3 -  in your moedim or appointed times (vs. 10), and 4 - at rosh chodesh or the New Moon.  So it appears that YHVH is expecting His people to assemble for a convocation on the New Moon.

We see another example in Psalm 81 where the psalmist says to "Blow (taqa) the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast" (Psalm 81:3 LXX).  Of course, this is speaking of Yom Teruah, but the message is that there's to be an assembly on (especially this) new moon.

So with that, I want to let you all know that our fellowship will be observing the New Moon this month, Thursday evening, July 3,  at the home of Larry and Mary Shipp in Pine Mills (just north of Hawkins).  We will begin around 6:30 P.M. with a pot luck meal followed by an interactive discussion (topic yet to be decided).  If anyone has a topic they want to bring up, just give Larry and Mary a call at (903) 857-2023 or email them at  mmslamb7@aol.com.  Most of us know where they live, but if you don't, just give them a call.  Everyone is invited!!!

Have a great week!

Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets)-

Each year, Tim and Angie Kelley host a Yom Teruah Celebration at their home in East Texas.  We praise YHVH for this special 'Moed', the first day of the fall Holy Day season that commemorates the wedding of the Messiah as well as the beginning of the 'birthpains of the Messiah' or 'tribulation' as it's known in Christian circles.

Bring your Shofar and enjoy this festival with us as we sing, dance, blow the Shofar, and spend the evening praising and worshipping YHVH and His son, Yeshua the Messiah.

Sukkot  (Feast of Tabernacles) -

Ami Yisrael's main event each year is the Season of Our Joy - the festival of Sukkot.  Sukkot pictures the Millineal Kingdom of YHVH, the time when Yeshua returns to Earth and begins the establishment of His kingdom as He rules and reigns in Jerusalem.

This 8-day festival is held at the Paris Landing State Park near Paris, Tennessee.  For more information about the Season of Our Joy festival, go to our web site - www.sooj.org.
